Who We Are

Pyrford Preschool is owned and managed by Jen Don Carolis.

“I am a local mum of three children, who have all attended Pyrford Preschool.  My passion for Pyrford Preschool started when both of my older children attended and they still ask if they can return now! My children’s love and enthusiasm for the setting and all the staff highlighted what a magical place it was for little learners. My dream has always been to eventually set up a Preschool or nursery and when the opportunity to own Pyrford Preschool came along, in January 2021, I could not have been happier!

I am a fully qualified teacher who specialised in Early Years Education (3-7 years) and have worked in a variety of school settings from Nursery through to Year 2, eventually taking on an Early Years Leader role. I have also spent many years working within a private nursery, gaining experience working with babies and toddlers. My passion has always been within Early Years and providing a nurturing, caring and stimulating learning environment.  After my second child, I left full time teaching and started running a successful children’s football coaching franchise where I gained invaluable business experience. I have maintained my professional skills through supply teaching, tutoring and running small ‘school ready’ group sessions from home.”

Jen is the Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and Designated Safeguarding Leader (DSL)

In addition, we have a strong and experienced team, with qualifications ranging from Qualified Teacher Status to NVQ  levels 2 and 3 in the Early Years Foundation Stage. They are all trained in paediatric first aid and child safeguarding.

Everyone in the preschool who cares for your children are mothers and know how challenging it can be to steer children in their development, to understand and interpret their behaviour, even to get them ready and out of the front door!

Of great importance is our relationship with parents. We can only work successfully with the children in our care by working with parents. To that end we begin with a welcoming start to the day when parents can feel comfortable to approach us, we are available to talk at the end of each session, and will always make appointments for any more lengthy conversations.
